Remove the two screws holding the strike plate in place on the door jamb and install the new one in the same position. Step 1 remove the screws in the faceplate of the doorknob if they re visible. Slide the faceplate over the door handle and snap it into place. It must line up with the holes in the latch assembly to function properly.

Repeat this process to attach the other faceplate. Place the new handle onto the outside of the door. You should feel a small indentation or hole on the. Use a phillips head screwdriver and turn the screws counterclockwise to loosen them. As the screws become loose the knob should also become loose. Put your tape measure on the floor in front of your door and measure up 41 inches from the floor since this is the most common placement for door handles. With the latch assembly in place slide the door handle with the attached cylinder into place.
