How to get garage door roller back in track.
The doors on your garage are moved smoothly up and down by garage door rollers these are held in place by brackets that are attached to the door of your garage.
Hit the end of the roller in the hinge with a hammer to push it back into place.
If you don t lower the wheels the door will fall out of the frame when you try to open or close it.
However it s not guaranteed that the roller will stay there no matter what.
Open the door partially to move the wheels to the point where they are jumping off the track.
Make sure the roller is in the center of the track.
It is relatively simple to fix a garage door that has derailed.
Once you have located the position use locking pliers to hold the door open by clamping them on one end of the track.
Now you will be able to open the door manually.
Raise the wheel by turning the adjustment screw counterclockwise.
If this doesn t work proceed to the next step.
Locate where the rollers are jumping off the track.
Open up the track with pliers.
Lift the garage door so the roller and the length of track you bent are lined up again.
A roll up door on the other hand needs to be exactly level.
The point where the roller is nearest the track is probably the point where it jumped the track.
The roller has a stem that fits into a bracket sleeve while the roller itself fits into a track.
Set the roller back in the track.
Raise and lower the door manually to ensure it is operating properly.
Once the door is back on track knock the track back into position with a rubber mallet.
Open the door while holding the roller against the track.
Locate where the roller popped out of the track.
After troubleshooting the tracks to find the problem you can now get to work putting the rollers back on track.
Detach the door from the automatic opener by pulling the overhead string to disengage the opener.
Lower the door when both wheels are on the track.
Also check that tracks across from each other are the same height.
Remove the locking pliers.
After you lower the door lower the wheels by turning each screw clockwise to secure the door in the frame.
